CADAM Drafting Changes in V4R2.1
Data Tips (Windows NT only)
CADAM Drafting now supports "data tips" on model geometry. If the cursor is paused over an element, a window will appear that displays the geometric properties of the element. Users can define the length of time the cursor must be paused before the data tip will appear.
Larger FK Buttons for High Resolution Displays (Windows NT only)
CADAM Drafting will now use larger function key toolbar buttons when resolutions of 1280x1024 or greater are selected.
30 Day Demo License (Windows NT only)
CADAM Drafting will now offer full function for 30 days after the initial installation, even without a valid license. After 30 days, if the customer still doesn't have a valid license, the product will revert to the previously implemented "demo mode".
Removal of iForLS Support
Due to a number of unresolved problems, iForLS is no longer supported by CADAM Drafting for license management. IBM's License Use Manager (LUM) is now required. The LUM software is now included on the CCD Windows NT media.
Additional Buttons on the Remote Open Panel (Windows NT only)
Buttons for Copy, Move, Rename, Delete, RO, ROP, and Reset have been added to the Remote Open panel.
Additional Feedback for Indicate Snap (Windows NT only)
As you work in Indicate Snap mode, the status line (at the bottom of the window) will display the type of snap that occurred, if any.
New Simplified Installation Procedures
The installation procedures for both Windows NT and UNIX have been redesigned and simplified. On UNIX platforms, the bind_ccd step is no longer required.
New Location for SPECDEF
The SPECDEF file has been moved from the BIN directory to the PROFILE directory so that it now resides with other user modifiable files.
Environment Variables no Longer Required (Windows NT only)
Setting of environment variables for CADAM Drafting is no longer necessary. Default values are now derived and saved in the registry. Users who maintain multiple versions of CADAM Drafting can continue to use environment variables to select from the different versions. Any environment variables that are defined will take precedence over the defaults from the registry.
New Utility to Validate CADAM Drafting Version (Windows NT only)
Two new utilities, "CCDVERW" and "CCDVER" are included with CADAM Drafting on Windows NT. These utilities check the level of all CCD components and display them in a window (CCDVERW) or to a command window (CCDVER). They also display the current setting of CADAM Drafting environment variables (or derived values if not explicitly defined). These utilities can be useful for validating the consistency of an installation or when reporting problems.
Adjustable Dimension Text Clearance
Users will be able to specify the clearance between dimension text and the dimension witness line. This clearance is specified as a factor between 0.0 and 2.0, where 1.0 represents the distance that has historically been used in CADAM Drafting.
Dimension Arrowhead Position Relative to Extension Line
Traditionally CADAM Drafting has positioned witness line arrowheads with the point of the arrow slightly off the extension line. This gives a "cleaner" appearance when plotted on most plotters. With new, high resolution, printers and plotters, however, it might be desirable for the point of the arrow to be positioned directly on the extension line. A new switch in CADPROF will allow the user to specify this placement.

An ellipse can now be defined by selecting lines that make up a surrounding rectangle.

The Detail LIST panel is now available for use with the /DITTO/ and /USE/ functions.
Function Key DIMENSION Change
Indicate Position Now Available in /TOUCH/
After placing a dimension using /TOUCH/, the user can position the dimension by indicating a location.
Function Key FILE Change
/PARENT/ Becomes Default After Plot Data Definition (UNIX only)
After the user defines plot data on an overlay, if /FILE/ is selected from within the plot data function, /PARENT/ will be the default file option instead of /ACTIVE/. This is done as a convenience since plot data is stored in the overlay parent.

YN Restore for /FIT/
A /FIT/ operation can now be undone with a YN.
/FIT/ Between Points for Angled Notes
When a /FIT/ operation is performed between points for an angled note, the distance used will be the distance between the points along the note's axis. Previously /FIT/ always used the horizontal distance which produced a zero width for vertical notes.
Support for Comma Separated Value Import/Export
The /TABLE/ function has been enhanced to allow Comma Separated Value (CSV) format files to be imported into tables and exported from tables. This enhancement allows data to be interchanged between CADAM Drafting and most popular spreadsheet programs.
Function Key OVERLAY Change
A new function, /RECALL/, has been added to allow the user to replace a member of an overlay family with the member's disk image. This allows a user to easily discard changes made to a single member, or to update a member with changes that a colleague may have made and filed after the user originally called the overlay family.
Separate Tracking for Changed Members
Change information for overlay members is now tracked separately for local and ICF calls. Now, when an overlay family is called through ICF, and filed back through ICF, the "ALL CHANGED" option will only file those members that truly changed. In previous releases, the "ALL CHANGED" option overfiled all members when filing back through ICF. Local filing continues to correctly file only changed members.

The Burn-in function now supports all CCD elements and has added support for attributes such as linestyle.
Function Key Relimit Change
A new menu item /JOIN/ has been added to allow the user to create a single line or arc out of two disjoint but collinear lines or arcs.
Plot by Width
Users can now map colors used in a drawing to specific widths when plotting.
Windows NT Printer Driver Support (Windows NT only)
A new plotting mechanism, which uses the system's defined printer drivers, has been added.
Plot option to define border width
A new plot option has been added to allow the user to define the width of the pen used to draw the "smoothing" line around a wide line.
AutoCAD Release 14 Support
AutoCAD Release 14 models are now supported for both input and output.
Support for new Release 13 Entities
The AutoCAD Release 13 Ellipse, Mline, Spline, and Tolerance entities are now supported.
Enhanced Support of 3 and 4 point filled polygons
Three and four point solid areafills are now mapped to AutoCAD 2D Solids to provide a more visibly accurate mapping.
Support for GD&T Symbols
Improved recognition and mapping has been added for GD&T Symbols.

Users can now define the character mapping used by EFT.
