CADAM Drafting Changes in V5R4
The following changes have been made to the CADAM Drafting product since Version 5 Release 4.
Windows 2000 support (Windows only)
CADAM Drafting V4 now supports Windows 2000, in addition to Windows NT 4.0.
Indicate snap to intersection points (Windows only)
Indicate snap will now consider intersection points if the intersection of two valid elements exists within the pick aperture.
Drawing name part fields (Windows only)
Customers can now define part fields in drawing names. Commas can be keyed when keying a drawing name to specify part field separations. This new function is similar to the existing function on the UNIX versions of CADAM Drafting.
Function Key GROUP Changes
The /LAYERS/ function has been modified to address some recently discovered problems. The maximum number of elements that can be put in any layer is 65533. In previous releases, it was possible to exceed this limit, which occasionally resulted in model corruption. This limit is now enforced. If the active layer reaches this limit and an attempt is made to add an additional element, an error message will be displayed informing the user that a new layer needs to be created and made active. If a group copy operation is being performed which would cause the limit to be exceeded, layer mode is automatically deactivated and the elements are copied without being put into a layer. Layer mode can also be manually deactivated by the user in the /LAYERS/ function. Finally, layer data can be completely removed from the model by using the /STRIP LAYER DATA/ menu item. Note that the ability to deactivate layer mode after it has been active for a model implies that it is now legal for a model with layer data to contain elements that do not belong to a layer.
Immediately upon entering FK Group, the user may indicate 2 points to form a rectangle. A temporary group will be formed from all elements contained in this rectangle. The function is the same as FK Group -> /TRAP/ -> YN Rectangle -> indicate 2 points -> /TRAP IN/.
Function Key NOTE Change
/CHNG/ across views
Several functions under FK Note /CHNG/ have been modified to allow elements outside the current view to be modified.
Function Key SHOW Change
Immediately upon entering FK Show, the user may indicate 2 points to form a rectangle. A temporary group will be formed from all elements contained in this rectangle. The function is the same as FK Group -> /TRAP/ -> YN Rectangle -> indicate 2 points -> /TRAP IN/.
Function Key SYMBOL Changes
Previous menu remembered
FK Symbol will now remember the previous menu the user was in when returning to FK Symbol.
Section arrows on arcs
Section arrows may now be placed on arcs.
Enhanced Arrow Positioning
When positioning arrow text, both the vertical position of the tail and the position of the text can now be adjusted. If the user indicates along the arrow tail, then the text will simply be repositioned along the existing tail, with the tail itself being lengthened or shortened, as necessary. If the indicate is not along the existing tail, the text is repositioned to the indicate point and the arrow and tail are recalculated.
Function Key TYPE Change
Line width display
Line weights can now be displayed interactively by using the /WT-ON/, /WT-OFF/ toggle in FK Type /STYLE1/.
Window Temp Plot Data (Windows only)
A new button called "Window TPD" has been added to the "Plot Current" panel. Selecting this button will plot the filed image of the current model, but will use the current window bounds as the temp plot data instead of the plot data that is stored with the model.
Remote plot between Windows NT and UNIX
Remote plotting is now possible to a CADAM Drafting UNIX installation from a CADAM Drafting Windows NT installation.
Temp plot data when Remote plotting
Temp plot data may now be used regardless of which host is being used (MVS, VM or UNIX) for a Remote plot.
Positioning of Plot Tracking Information
Plot tracking information may now be optionally positioned inside the plot area using the NOTELOCOFFSET plot option.
Format Table Conversion (Windows only)
A new option now exists on the CCD Format Table panel to "Get" (and convert) format tables from Mainframe CADAM and from CADAM Drafting running on AIX or HP-UX. The option to "Put" (and convert) the table back to AIX or HP-UX also exists.
True Ellipse Support
EFT now exports CCD ellipses as AutoCAD ellipses if the target AutoCAD release is set to R13 or R14.
Support for additional dimension line end conditions
Additional mappings are supported when transferring dimension line end conditions between CADAM Drafting and AutoCAD.
Improved support for dimension tolerances and trailing text
Tolerances and trailing text will be kept as part of the dimension element under more conditions as a result of this improved mapping.
Improved mapping for areafill interiors
A more accurate mapping is now provided for areafill interior characteristics.
There is a new option in CADPROF under "Drafting Customization" called "Modal Corners". If this switch is set to "yes", and a corner is being created with a radius, that radius will take on the color/type/width attributes of the elements being cornered if they are identical. For example, if two red dashed lines are cornered, the corner radius will also be red and dashed. If the two elements being cornered do not have the same color, type, and width, the behavior will be as it was in previous releases. Setting this switch to "no" (the default setting) will cause the behavior to always be as it was in previous releases.
Static Binding for LUM Clients (Windows only)
A static binding option is now available for managing LUM licenses on Windows NT clients. This allows the customer to set up a Concurrent licensing environment without having to install and configure LUM on each client PC. LUM 4.5.5 must be installed on the license server and on one client machine for this option. Older versions of LUM do not support this option. To set up this environment, configure the server and one client PC as you normally would. Once this one client has been configured, copy the "i4ls.ini" file from the c:/Winnt to the c:/Winnt directory on all other client machines. Second, copy the "ccdnls.dll" from the $CCD_ROOT/license directory to the $CCD_ROOT/BIN directory on all client machines. (If you have performed a distributed installation of CCD, this replacement of "ccdnls.dll" only needs to be performed on the CCD code server. The "i4ls.ini" file must still be propagated to all client machines, however.) If you do not yet have LUM 4.5.5 installed, it can be obtained from the IBM LUM download website at http://www.software.ibm.com/is/lum or in the LUM folder on the CCD 422 Refresh 1 CDROM.
Automatic License Release
System administrators can now specify that licenses from idle CCD processes be released automatically. The administrator can specify a time of 30 minutes or greater on the "System Parameters" panel in CADPROF. (The default value of "0", specifies that licenses should never be automatically released.) Any CCD process that has not received user input in the specified interval will automatically give up it's license. The CCD process will continue to run. If the CCD process receives user input after giving up it's license, it will attempt to check out another license. If no licenses are available, the user will receive a warning and be given 20 attentions in which to save their work.
Support for Raster Burn-in
Raster burn-in is now available through the IUE interface. This enhancement allows customers to write IUE applications that will rasterize a CADAM model.
